About Us

Between publisher paywalls and sensationalized media reporting, scientific information can often get lost in translation. Useful Science balances accuracy and accessibility by creating bite-sized summaries of scientific articles that are useful to everyday life.

Launched by students at McGill University in 2014, usefulscience.org is run entirely by volunteer researchers, teachers, graduate students, and science communicators from all corners of the globe. Since then, we have brought you information about improving sleep, exercising better, and even optimizing noise levels for creativity. Our rigorous editorial process ensures we publish high-quality science in language accessible to the public.

By showing people that science is useful to everyday life we hope to inspire future scientists and help people lead better, more healthy lives. Follow our progress by subscribing to our newsletter.
