Red Cloud Volunteer Program

Red Cloud Volunteers work for and stand with the Oglala Lakota Sioux people on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Volunteers serve nearly 600 Lakota students in a K-12 Catholic school system, which is administered by the Jesuits and the Lakota people. During their year of service, Volunteers work as support staff (teacher aides, librarians, etc.) or regular classroom teachers (elementary or high school), and Volunteers also help with bus driving, coaching, and various after-school activities. If you have a desire to work within a challenging cross-cultural and interreligious environment, live simply, grow spiritually (through the Catholic and Lakota religious traditions), work for justice in education, and become more socially conscious, then this program may be a good fit for you.

The Volunteer's term of service begins the last week of July, 2016 and ends on May 31, 20157. Volunteer benefits include room and board in a volunteer community, $200/month stipend, $600 annual travel stipend, full health insurance, professional development opportunities, and shared use of a volunteer car.
