ACOMERPR

ACOMERPR is a grassroots organization that was founded in 2020 following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the earthquakes that devastated the southern region of Puerto Rico. In its first five months, ACOMERPR delivered prepared meals and groceries to elderly populations and populations impacted by the earthquakes. Shortly after, the organization expanded operations to deliver nutritional food and COVID-19 personal protective equipment to vulnerable populations throughout the Puerto Rican archipelago.  Through this work ACOMERPR has built a network of 80 community leaders and 500 volunteers who help deliver food and other essential items. 

Recently, ACOMERPR broadened its activities to meet the needs of chronically food insecure areas. We are developing multigenerational community gardens in five municipalities to bolster food security and social reintegration of older adults with younger generations , and exploring other opportunities that promote sustainable food security in Puerto Rico. ACOMERPR is working towards a Puerto Rico where all people have equal access to quality food.
