Greater DC Cares connects community assets - skills, time and goods - with community needs in ways that improve lives and strengthen our region.
Greater D.C. Cares connects volunteers' skills and interests with our community's critical needs. Volunteers provide hands-on assistance to community-based service organizations, including preparing meals for the homeless, taking inner city children on nature trips, teaching sports to physically and mentally disabled children, mentoring at-risk youth and delivering meals to homebound elderly. Greater D.C. Cares also tests community service organizations and programs, designs individually tailored team projects and serves as a resource and referral center for individual volunteers. We successfully involve people in the communities in which they live and work: We have more than 13,000 volunteers ranging from age 20-65, who donate more than 5,000 hours of volunteer service each month.
