About Us

CAIR-Alabama is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) grassroots civil rights and advocacy group. Established in 2015 by a group of local activists, community leaders, and civic-minded individuals, CAIR-Alabama serves the entire state of Alabama through its Birmingham office. It is Alabama's only Muslim civil liberties organization. CAIR-Alabama is a chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), America’s largest Islamic civil liberties group with chapters nationwide. However, CAIR-Alabama operates as an independent nonprofit organization, responsible for securing its own funds.
