About Us
SafeHouse Center exists to fulfill a dual function within our community:
- Provision of direct services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children, including counseling, crisis intervention, support, individual and legal advocacy and a wide range of material resources. Direct services also include the provision of safe physical space to survivors of domestic violence and their children through maintenance of a shelter facility, SafeHouse.
- Provision of community education, systems change, advocacy, prevention, social change work and coordination of services that:
- Develop effective and humane individual and institutional responses to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their children
- Change the personal attitudes, institutional practices and cultural beliefs that condone violence in general and domestic violence and sexual assault in particular.
