GreaterGood South Africa

The GreaterGood South Africa Trust is a public service organisation connecting committed givers with good causes and activating the public to give responsibly.

We provide a free online community for hundreds of causes from every corner of South Africa to showcase their work and access the financial and non-financial resources they need to grow and thrive.

What sets us apart is the ability for givers to offer things other than donations (like their skills, surplus goods and volunteer time). We do not charge cause organisations membership or administration fees and we have managed to negotiate minimum bank and credit card fees and causes in our community receive R96.72 of every R100 donation made to them.

We also work to build the capability of non-profit organisations through knowledge sharing and information, to ultimately improve their sustainability.

We do this with:

• Public call-to-action campaigns such as gifts4good.co.za, volunteering and giving drives
• News, advice, debate and thought leadership in our newsletters, blogs and in the media

Since inception in 2004, GreaterGood SA has:

• Voted in the Top 10 most trusted non-profit organisations[1]
• Raised over R43 million for good causes
• Developed a giving community of over 1,300 non-profit organisations, 10,000 registered givers and 12,000 newsletter subscribers with an average of 11,160 unique visits a month from 154 countries
• Generated 190,000 hours of volunteer skills and time
• Facilitated the distribution of over 8.6 million second hand and surplus goods.

The group’s not for profit corporate consulting arm, GreaterCapital, provides strategic social and responsible investment advisory services and opportunities to corporate, development agency and public sector clients. Surplus funds from GreaterCapital’s work support our sector research, advocacy and public benefit activities and are a key part the group’s sustainability strategy.
