About Us

At Parkmont we create a community where students ally themselves with creative adults whose driving concern is their success and well-being. We provide them with substantial experience in the world beyond school that invites them to see more clearly the possibilities ahead. We challenge them with an academic program that fuses adolescent interests with traditional disciplines and respects the variety of their talents and motivations.

Parkmont is an intentionally small school for grades 6th through 12th in Washington, DC. Founded in 1972, Parkmont has an original, progressive approach to engaging students in all walks of life, not just academically. Multi-grade classes of 6-10 students rely on a blend of classroom work, real life experiences, travel, and technology to augment our home campus in the 16th Street Heights neighborhood. Our program includes a streamlined academic structure that emphasizes hands-on learning, teacher-student relationships, comprehensive academic support services, and an expansive and thoughtful internship program.
