About Us

The Illinois Housing Council (IHC) is a state-wide nonprofit membership association, created to promote the stabilization of communities through the production and preservation of affordable housing. IHC has over 250 organizational members including over 2,000 individuals - consisting of developers, property managers, financial institutions, investors, builders, subcontractors, accountants, civic organizations, market analysts and consultants.

As a non-profit, member-based organization, IHC serves as a resource for information, education, and networking opportunities for our members from across all sectors. The association organizes over a dozen educational and networking events for our members throughout the year, including an annual conference and golf outing. IHC advocates for state-wide affordable-housing-friendly policy and legislation by building constructive relationships with local, state and federal officials and by serving as the ‘go-to’ organization for affordable housing in Illinois.
