ALZHEIMERS MUSIC PROJECT INC
Mission
The Alzheimer’s Music Project is a non-profit organization, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for those suffering from dementia, including Alzheimer’s. Harnessing the power of music, with a free IPod music player, headphones and a personalized playlist, our goal is to enrich the lives and ease the suffering of home-based, and institutionalized Alzheimer’s patients in Massachusetts through direct contact with them, their families and caregivers.
About Us
We're a small non-profit based in Western Massachusetts that brings personalized music to people with Alzheimer's, living either at home, or in care facilities, across the state. Because our brains are hard-wired to connect music with long-term memory and positive emotional states, people suffering from cognitive decline often have an immediate, positive reaction to the music they love. After interviewing family members, we assemble a playlist of 80-100 songs and bring an I-pod and headphones, free of charge, to every participating individual. We are wholly supported by tax-deductible contributions.
