Cradles to Crayons

  • Mission

Founded in 2002, Cradles to Crayons is an innovative nonprofit organization that provides children living in homeless or low-income situations with the essential items they need to thrive - at home, at school and at play. Cradles to Crayons also sets a foundation for lasting change by providing meaningful, tangible volunteer opportunities to thousands of individuals and hundreds of organizations each year.

    About Us

By partnering with schools, corporations and community groups for donations, and with social-service organizations serving homeless and low-income families, we connect communities that have surplus resources--new or used items in good condition--with communities that desperately need access to those resources. We currently serve over 100,000 children per year out of our Boston location.

One of the unique components of the Cradles to Crayons operating model is the opportunity for volunteers to engage their own communities in our mission through our Community Champion Program. This program egages adults in leadership roles as a means of increasing Cradles to Crayons' capacity to engage with volunteers and community members, develop meaningful relationships, and ultimately serve more children. Champions may fulfill their role in a variety of ways- from hosting a large scale donation drive, to serving as an ambassador or maintaining one of our donation bins. Through these meaningful, hands on volunteer opportunities, we aspire to set a foundation for lasting change.
