Since its founding in 1955, three years before Washington Hospital actually opened its doors, the Washington Hospital Service League has provided more than 1.8 million hours of service and donated more than $2.2 million to the Hospital. Volunteers serve in a variety of assignments including:
- Greeting patients and visitors in the lobby
- Discharging patients from their room to their ride
- Delivering flowers to patient rooms
- Serving in the gift shop
- Providing support in the surgical waiting room
- Assisting at public seminars, health screenings and Hospital events
- Supporting patient care in the nursing units
