Sustainability Matters

  • Mission

Sustainability Matters is a conservation collaborative, working together for environmental education and community building. We make sustainability happen by making it fun, realistic, and accessible. Our themes are sustainable gardening, farming and business, local sourcing, environmental awareness, and nature conservation.

    About Us

Since our founding in January 2018, we've organized over 90 programs and events in 8 counties of Virginia's Northern Shenandoah Valley and Piedmont regions. Our initiatives range from planting pollinator habitat at landfills, to hosting the NSV's largest Earth Day festival, to Wild Edibles Walks, workshops on sustainable landscaping, and much more. We're a volunteer-driven, grassroots organization. Our 60+ volunteers come from every demographic, with a wide range of professional expertise: farmers, musicians, chefs, artists, carpenters, accountants, conservation professionals, and professors.
