About Us

The Galilee region of Israel is home to more than half of Israel's Arabic speakers (Muslims, Christians, Druze and Bedouin). Established in 1996 as the sole Arab teacher college in the area, Sakhnin College for Teacher Education aims to fulfil a range of vital needs in the Arab society. Located in the Arab city of Sakhnin, the college has a student body comprised of more than 4,000 students.

The college trains and qualifies teachers, and provides greater and more diverse opportunities for study for Arab students, especially women. Sakhnin College grants Bachelor and Master degrees in Education and/or a teaching certificate, as well as professional development education. 

Our awards include:

  • 2019 Reimagine Education Award, Best Distributed Program for Nurturing 21st Century Skill category finalist for the MOOC, "Introduction to Multiculturalism," with Talpiot College
  • 2013 Yitzhak Rabin National Award for Quality and Excellence in the Public Sector


Having completed seven international projects since 2012, we are expanding internationalization while also committing to the educational, social, health, and economic development of our community. Our projects include:

  • Promoting Mentors' Work in Education (Pro-Mentors)
  • Developing Modernized Curricula on Immigrants' and Refugees' Lives (DEMO)
  • Assessment Tools for HE Learning Environments (ASSET)
  • Promoting teachers' success in their induction period (Pro-Teach)
  • Social Innovation for Local Indian and Israeli Communities and graduate Entrepreneurs (SILICE)
  • Curriculum Reform for Promoting Civic Education and Democratic Principles in Israel and in Georgia (CURE)
  • Development of an International Model for Curricular Reform in Multicultural Education and Cultural Diversity Training (DOIT)
