  • About Us

    Mission Statement

The ultimate vision of OurSpace World, Inc. (OSW) is a sustainable world where all communities have culturally-centered spaces in which to live and thrive. Our mission is to cooperatively educate, organize, and support squads of land stewards and Earth healers. We help help systematically disadvantaged farmers, builders, healers, and educators attain sovereignty and sustainability through partnerships and wise resource acquisition and management.

    Description

Started in 2011, OSW is a Maryland-based Black-led non-profit with a history of providing community-oriented programs. OurSpace Acupuncture (OSA) was our first community initiative, which created a space for stress relief, healing, and affordable care. Over six years, OSA provided almost 400 treatments/month and employed several student interns to support economic mobility. OSW also helped nine women, 4 of them BIPOC, further their careers in natural and alternative medicine. Recognizing that food, environment, and lifestyle were root causes of illnesses treated at OSA - particularly for BIPOC clients, OSW shifted focus 2017. Our current work centers the Black Diaspora through 2 integrated programs:

Project Teach22 (T22): educating thriving 22nd century-ready farmers and builders.

The Ujima Initiative: organizing & cultivating groups committed to living and working collaboratively.

Calabash: supporting/amplifying existing efforts that further our organizational mission through technical assistance, fiscal sponsorship, and partnerships.
