Masaka Association of Disabled Persons Living with HIV&AIDS (MADIPHA)

Masaka Association Disabled Persons Living with HIV&AIDS(MADIPHA) is an indigenous Community Based Organization of Persons with Disabilities’ living with HIV/AIDS. It was established in 2009 and was registered by Masaka District Local Government (C.D 7131). The aim of MADIPHA is to ensure that all PWDs living with HIV/AIDS access full integration in all activities of the society as well as being included in the mainstream livelihood care and support in the Districts of Masaka, Kalungu, Bukomansimbi and Lwengo.

Vision:A society where PWDs access comprehensive HIV&AIDS services without discrimination.

Mission:To promote access to livelihood and comprehensive HIV&AIDS services by all PWDs through; Mobilization, Sensitization, Trainings and Advocacy

Highlights on Interventions

Implementing a 5 year development plan with 5 key priorities

1.Mobilize,sensitize andCreate awareness among PWDs on HIV&AIDS prevention, strengthening Peer support groups, developing a strong voice of advocacy, information sharing, collaboration, social livelihood and economic empowerment.

2.Strengthening peer support groups in Greater Masaka to effectively engage with service providers.

3.Establishing networks with HIV&AIDS service organizations, health centers Local governments and other stakeholders.

4.Documentation and Information sharing

5.Representing PWDs infected and affected by HIV in different foras.

6.Supporting PWDs trained counselors to provide counseling services to PWDs and non disabled people at different HIV AIDS service centres.

7.Supporting PWDs living positively with HIV to play an advocacy role through Music dance and drama.
