About Us

Weatherizers Without Borders (WWB) replicates the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), a public policy managed by US Department of Energy (DOE) which since its creation in 1976 has produced remarkable results in terms of energy savings as well as family health and safety, quality of life improvements, community strengthening, climate change mitigation and green jobs creation. The Latin American version of the program named "Sustentabilizar Hogares" aims to improve living conditions of low income families by making their homes more comfortable, healthy and energy efficient and at the same time by reducing their household energy expenditure. WWB adapts WAP to LATAM contexts, language, building stock and culture. A weatherization program consists in training new green workers as weatherizers, auditing low-income homes, and carrying out cost-effective retrofits for energy efficiency and health and safety in the homes.
