SpayMart is a 501(C)3 nonprofit humane society chartered in Louisiana since 1998, with the mission of ending the needless killing of cats and dogs in the Greater New Orleans area by offering the public aggressive, proactive spay/neuter and adoption initiatives. The organization owns and operates a no-kill shelter and foster care program, homing over 500 animals annually. SpayMart provides low-cost spay/neuter for indigent pet owners and feral cat colony caretakers through local, participating veterinary offices. The organization subsidizes over 2,000 pounds of dried pet food each month to indigent pet owners and homeless animals. SpayMart operates a thrift store and adoption center with all proceeds going to the animals and partners with local shelters and PETsMART stores to facilitate pet adoptions. SpayMart plans to open a large volume spay/neuter clinic and low cost animal hospital in 2016.
