About Us

Villa Verde is an elementary bilingual school located in the west of Honduras. We emphasize the teaching of environmental and cultural awareness and aim to help safeguard the unique and endangered environment of the city of Gracias region in the west of Honduras. This region is host of the highest mountains of Honduras including the national park Mount Celaque with 2700 ha of pristine cloudforest.

Villa Verde students receive: •A fully bilingual education and exposure to different cultures •A cultural and historical orientation about the city of Gracias and Honduras •A deep appreciation of their surroundings and the importance of environmental protection.

Our goals are: •To develop responsible, bilingual, educated citizens with a profound consciousness of their environment, their ecological mission towards humanity, and the importance of their own role in the community. •To incorporate as many children as possible from low income families and empower them with a good education.

We believe that… •by fostering social and personal growth, •by instilling the capacity and motivation to apply knowledge in a responsible way, and •by nurturing the skills required to take decisions, solve problems and think creatively, …we can help the children of Gracias secure their own future and safeguard this unique environment.
