Moving Mountains Trust

Moving Mountains Trust is an independent non-profit organisation working in east Africa, Nepal and Borneo delivering development solutions to social, economic and environmental problems. 

We are also a responsible volunteering organisation with strong values and a successful track record of placements in development education. We have a strong focus on local ownership, eventual financial self-sufficiency, and overall long term sustainability.

By working hand in hand with local communities and grass roots organisations we effectively identify development needs, empower local communities and successfully and efficiently implement projects which benefit thousands of people from impoverished communities and disadvantaged families each year. 

Over the years we have also implemented and maintained a diverse array of other highly successful programmes, for example, working with street children across Kenya towards a brighter future, providing hundreds of eco-friendly cook stoves to villagers in Nepal, and most recently working with rainforest communities in Borneo to help them cope with and resist deforestation through new income-generating initiatives. All of our work is carefully designed and tailored to fully benefit local communities and to make a long term, positive impact.  

All of our work is guided by principles of transparency, equality, respect, local ownership and fairness, and our teams of dedicated and experienced local staff in have years of experience leading and coordinating our volunteering trips and placements.
