About Us

We envision a future of clean and ample water for people and nature, where local caretakers are well-equipped, effective and courageous champions for our rivers. Our mission directly supports this vision: We empower and unite people and communities to protect and restore rivers and other waters that sustain all life.

Since 1988, River Network has been at the forefront of expanding interest in protecting the waters of our country, encouraging diversity in the environmental movement, and helping engaged citizens to take a stand for their waters. We accomplish our mission by investing in local efforts, helping advance impact at more significant scales (system, state, regional, national), and connecting to 2,000 organizations and 10,000 people. We have offices in Portland, Oregon and Boulder, Colorado and staff who work remotely from other locations across the US.

We work most closely with River Network members — dues-paying groups, professionals, and corporations that receive ongoing access to our resources, services and technical training. Our consistent support has helped many hundreds of these groups to form and grow steadily stronger over the past two plus decades.
