About Us

SDHDFwas established in 1996 with a mission to improve the quality of life within San Diego's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community by promoting responsible philanthropy to enact positive social change. As the sole LGBT community foundation in southern California, SDHDF is building a permanent financial reservoir for the benefit of worthy nonprofit organizations that will ensure that critical needs of future generations of our LGBT community are addressed. Since its establishment, SDHDF has distributed over $2.8 million through grants to nonprofit organizations that support

  • Advancement of civil rights
  • HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention and support services
  • LGBT youth and seniors
  • Arts, education and humanities programs

The San Diego Human Dignity Foundation is the third largest LGBT foundation in the country. We work to strengthen LGBT organizations and leadership as well as nurturing philanthropy within our community.
