We provide fully funded and low cost volunteering, internship and work experience opportunities. The AWdF is a UK registered conservation charity (1167109) with 30 years experience in providing higher education programmes accredited by the European Union. Tens of thousands of students and young people from around the globe have gained vital skills and experience passing through our programmes.
Our main operations base is in Tenerife where we offer volunteering, internship and work experience in different programme areas;
Marine Research: our volunteers are trained to be ‘Research Guides’ on the whale watching boats, collecting data on the 28 species of cetaceans that can be found in Tenerife waters. We also conduct behavioural surveys from private research vessels (RIB), land based research stations and have both an acoustics and plastic pollution research programmes.
Marine Conservation: Our core goal is to raise awareness and inspire action. This starts with the 1 million tourists on whale watching boats in Tenerife every year and continues with our volunteers who advocate for the conservation of the marine environment wherever their journey takes them.
Education and Outreach: we believe education is the key to solving global issues and it is at the heart of everything we do. The communication of our research data to local and global communities, is imperative to securing the future of whales and dolphins around the world.
Be the change you want to see in the world!
