Mission Statement

The mission of the Carolyn Jackson Foundation is to provide quality supplemental health screenings, wellness training and education,health insurance informationand other resources to low-income and uninsured members of communities in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Vision Our vision is a community where it is possible for all those who are under-served and who are in need of quality supplemental health screenings, wellness training and education, health insurance information and other resources will be provided such services and programs in an appropriate, timely and uncompromising manner; and to bring that vision into reality via protocols that will be worthy of emulation and praise in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

We can only create such significant improvement in our community health if our vision is absolutely focused on the accomplishment of the afore-stated pillars of health screenings, wellness training & education and health insurance information – thus achieving the difference we desire to make and reaching the dream of our community’s highest health potential. The long term vision of the Carolyn Jackson Foundation is for a community where everyone’s basic health-care needs are met, and part of achieving this long term vision of providing community health improvement is to increase awareness of the issues facing our vulnerable populations. In line with our vision for a healthy vibrant community, our goal and mission is therefore to ensure that the Carolyn Jackson Foundation has the funding and practical tools for accomplishing those visionary ends. We will do this work by convening, engaging, mobilizing and soliciting both the private and public sectors, to ensure we have the means to make our community a vibrant and amazing place in which to live and work.

Core Values & PrinciplesThe primary way we can create an amazing health future for our community is if we do our work in a way that reflects universally shared values, including the need to provide basic health-care to our citizens. Further, our goal is to be an integral part of creating this future for our community – achieving the lofty goals of our vision statement, thus assuring that we will always want to ensure our work reflects the values we want to see in our community.Our values statement provides the tools and inspiration for the Carolyn Jackson Foundation to accomplish that. The values statement will allow us to constantly seek community validation of the organization regarding the visionary outcomes we want to create for our community. The following are our core values & principles:

1. To accomplish our vision of a healthy, humane, vibrant community, the organization’s work is all rooted in these values and is the core of theCarolyn Jackson Foundation.

2. We will accomplish what we hold ourselves accountable for, wherein everyone in our management and staff is dedicated to creating this healthy future for our community.3. Our actions and decisions will begin with positive desired end results while working backwards to determine the cause-and-effect conditions that will create those results.4. We will favor decisions that create long term health improvement for our community over short term expediency for the organization.5. Both our internal work and our work with individuals, businesses, other organizations and the community will inspire and encourage partnership and cooperation.6. The best decision will be the decision that provides the best end result for the highest number of our program participants and the community that we serve. Our goal is to foster partnerships that will enhance the health of our community using sound health improvement protocols that creates healthier neighborhoods.9. We are committed to working with area businesses, local and federal agencies and our neighbors to improve the health of the place we live in and do business by implementing health-care protocols and projects that benefits our community.10.
