United Way Helpline

About Us

The UWCA Helpline is more than a telephone line, it is a front door to nonprofit and government resources available in the Central Texas community. The UWCA Helpline is composed of two call centers: 2-1-1 Texas and Central Health Customer Service.

2-1-1 Texas is a free statewide, 24-hour information line, providing access to more than 5,000 health and human services through a multilingual helpline and website. When disaster strikes, 2-1-1 Texas provides immediate referrals. In Austin, 2-1-1 Texas is a program of the Health and Human Services Commission in collaboration with United Way Capital Area (UWCA).

Central Health Customer Service (CHCS) is a partnership of Central Health and UWCA providing pre-eligibility screening services for Travis County and Texas health care programs, including the Medical Assistance Program (MAP), Medicaid, CHIP and CHIP Perinatal.

The UWCA Helpline is a seamless system that gives one-call access to health care and basic needs information and referral.
