The School for Social Entrepreneurs-Ontario (SSE-O) supports social innovators who are working with others to create sustainable solutions to poverty and social injustice. The School does this through the use of action-learning programs of personal growth and organizational development.
With generous funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and incubation support from Housing Services Corporation, Social Innovation Generation at MaRS, ACCESS Community Capital Fund, and the Toronto Centre for Community Learning & Development, SSE-O is being established as a three-year, pilot initiative starting in Spring 2012. Based on a successful model from the UK, the SSE franchise across Britain, Australia, and now Canada, has helped over 850 entrepreneurs from all backgrounds establish, scale, and sustain social enterprises and social businesses.
