    The ISTH, founded in 1969, is an individual membership organization with over 3000 members from over 70 countries around the world. ISTH's diverse global membership, committed leaders, and high quality initiatives result in an extremely well respected and influential international organization that addresses the needs of the millions of people worldwide suffering from thrombosis and hemostasis. ISTH delivers its mission through several key endeavors: the publication of a highly regarded monthly journal, The Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis; biennial international Congresses and yearly meetings of the Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC), the working arm of the Society; organization and support of educational programs around the world; and the development of standards for scientific nomenclature and methods. These successful programs and initiatives play a critical role in furthering the research and treatment of thrombotic and hemorrhagic diseases globally.
