The Grace S. and W. Linton Nelson Foundation

  • About Us

About The Grace S. and W. Linton Nelson Foundation: The Grace S. and W. Linton Nelson Foundation is a private, independent foundation that was established in 1984 through the generosity of the late Grace and Bill Nelson. To date, the Foundation has made grants of more than $30 million, always with a focus on children and youth in the Greater Philadelphia region. In 2022, the Foundation committed to a new vision and mission centering racial equity and social justice in its work.

The Foundation’s grantmaking includes an open application Core Grant program, which awards three-year general operating grants of $60,000, and an invitation-only Capacity Building Grant program, which makes larger multi-year grants. The Foundation also provides opportunities for learning, development, and peer connection with its partner organizations.

    Vision

Young people in the Greater Philadelphia Region experience their futures in healthy, thriving, and prosperous communities where systems of racism, inequity, and injustice have been eradicated.

    Mission

The Nelson Foundation acts to eliminate systemic racial and social inequities by investing for impact with partner organizations in the Greater Philadelphia region that are committed to serving young people, their families, and the communities in which they live.
