The Maryland Park & Planning Commission
The Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission (MNCPPC) has been in operation for over 78 years providing acquisition, development and maintenance of our regional parks system within Montgomery and Prince George's Counties. We also provide land use planning services for the physical development of the two counties. In addition, the Commission is also responsible for the public recreation program in Prince George's County. The overall mission of the Commission is to:
Ø Mange physical growth and plan communities Ø Protect and steward natural, cultural and historic resources Ø Provide leisure and recreational experiences
As a result of these activities, the Commission offers an impressive array of state of the art facilities and award winning programs. We administer a park system of more than 52,000 acres, composed of stream valley parks, large regional parks, neighborhood parks and park-school recreation areas.
Our agency has more than 3,000 employees - from tree climbers to professional land planners, who share our passion for and belief in making sound decisions about how the county's land resources are used, developed and conserved for future generations. The decisions we make today will have a direct affect on the quality of life 30 years from now.
