Pfaffinger Foundation was founded in 1936 to assist
employees, former employees, and retirees of the Los Angeles Times and its
sister newspapers. The Foundation makes
small grants to these individuals as recommended by a staff of social
workers. It also makes community grants
to agencies that help low-income families achieve self-sufficiency. The Foundation has a staff of eight and an
annual budget of over $4 million, with a stable and congenial work environment.
