ANOTHER EXPERIMENT BY WOMEN FILM FESTIVAL
AXWFF will showcase, promote and nurture filmmakers whose individual vision moves beyond what is typically offered in galleries or movie houses.
Experimental works screened in a public theater envelope the viewer and satisfies both the conscious and unconscious levels of the mind; as it presents an alternative to viewing moving pictures on YouTube or those shown in mainstream theaters.
It is crucial for experimental artists to have their work seen in a public forum where serious viewing takes place— and for these viewings to continue to exist outside of the internet fare watched on home computers. Such screenings are integral in an open community that includes women, other filmmakers, and people of any age group who are interested in seeing an alternative to their daily media fare, one that they can comment freely upon, discuss and enjoy with others in shared space.
Women’s own vision is unique: it often stems from and/or joins together political, familial, social or body issues. Films with such themes and form, and films made by women, are an alternative to what is presented at most theaters and/or “experimental” screenings.
Your support for AXWFF (Another Experiment by Women Film Festival) is support of such values. AXWFF intends to continue to program in upcoming years.
