Boston University Habitat for Humanity

  • About Us

Habitat for Humanity International “seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.”

Habitat for Humanity at Boston University sends groups of students to Habitat sites in the Great Boston area to help build homes for local families. Projects include painting, siding, putting in windows, and deconstruction.

In addition to weekly build trips, BU Habitat for Humanity also hosts many events in Boston to raise awareness about poverty, homelessness, and low-income housing. These events are also an important part of our fundraising efforts.

In February, 2008 BU Habitat for Humanity pledged $50,000 and it's support to sponsor a house. This will be the first ever Boston University HFH sponsored house.

The family chosen to buy this house will be required to put in 400 hours of “sweat equity,” consisting of education, training, and/or building. Additionally, the house will be LEED certified energy-efficient.
