Unveiling Africa Foundation
The Unveiling Africa Foundation (UVA) is a youth led non-profit organization founded in 2006 by students in Canada. UVA seeks to contribute to the development of the African continent by harnessing the intellectual capital of Africans in the Diaspora while enhancing the educational experience and social development of the African child. Currently, UVA is based in Canada and Nigeria. Both branches work collaboratively to fulfil UVA’s dual mission.
In Canada, UVA works collaboratively with community members, students and faculty groups at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada to hold educational symposiums, debates and to coproduce events centred on Africa and global issues/awareness. More importantly, the forum has provided an avenue for African youths in Diaspora to develop knowledge, passion and commitment to the development of the continent. Till date, over $5000 has been donated to the development of the African continent.
Unveiling Africa Foundation Canada has also earned the attention of international organizations such as ‘Make Poverty History‘ and influential Africans such as Dr Philip Emeagwali. UVA’s commendable work in Canada has attracted the attention of international media such as the Gateway, Express News, The All Africa Network and much more.Unveiling Africa Foundation expanded to Nigeria in 2010 with core focus on supplementing youth education by promoting critical thinking and community activism amongst Nigerian teens. As an end goal, Unveiling Africa Foundation seeks to produce well rounded teenagers with the capacity to excel in Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Politics.
