About Us

Since 1998, Fix Our Ferals in Richmond, CA has served tens of thousands of Bay Area low-income residents and many partner Bay Area animal welfare organizations. Our mission is to humanely end overpopulation of cats and dogs by making quality spay/neuter (SN) and crucial surgical care accessible to them, regardless of their caretakers’ ability to pay. We are part of the progressive animal welfare movement that focuses on keeping cats and dogs out of crowded shelters by reducing populations of free-roaming cats and returning them to their colonies, and keeping pet cats and dogs in their homes. We believe that the high cost of veterinary surgery should not be the reason why a loving, low-income pet guardian must surrender their cat or dog to a shelter or why free-roaming cats continue to reproduce and later occupy space in over-crowded shelters, where they will likely be euthanized.
