We do the work we do because, at the end of the day, there is nothing like a job to give someone a sense of self-worth, pride, and a reason to hope. There are too many people in Oakland who have been left behind due to life circumstances, poor education, economic fluctuations, and technological change. Too many are suffering with nowhere to turn. We cannot and will not shy away from this challenge and this opportunity.
