Covid Watch

Mission: Covid Watch is an organization with a clear mission: developing open source code to empower people with public health technology to stop the COVID-19 pandemic while protecting digital privacy.

The Covid Watch mobile app, now available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play, allows people who test positive for COVID-19 to anonymously notify others that they may have been exposed, empowering individuals to take recommended precautions to help stop the spread. The Covid Watch Platform for public health offers an end-to-end technology solution based on fully anonymous exposure notification, paired with implementation and support services for public health authorities, medical centers, and higher education institutions to rapidly and safely scale COVID-19 mitigation efforts.

Founded in February 2020 by Stanford and Waterloo researchers, the Covid Watch organization now represents the work of more than 650 contributors, volunteers, and expert advisors in privacy, public health, epidemiology, app development, policy, law, design, research, and communications who are passionate about combating the pandemic globally.
