  • Mission

The mission of the Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic is to provide community-based healthcare for the residents of Gloucester and Mathews Counties who lack health insurance. We achieve this through the efforts of volunteers, paid professionals and support staff, and contributions from members of the community who share our values and concern.

    About Us

The Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic was founded in 1998 by a group of parishioners from Abingdon Episcopal Church who were concerned about Gloucester & Mathews Counties residents without insurance and unable to afford medical treatment or medications. We were initially located in Hayes through operating space provided by Riverside Health System, and moved into our current facility in 2014. Twenty years later, we have expanded from serving just over 100 patients in our first year to now over 1,000 patients annually.

Vision: We are committed to everyone from Gloucester and Mathews Counties having access to basic healthcare and patient education.
