About Us

The mission of Jobs For Youth/Chicago is to help young men and women from low-income families become part of the economic mainstream; and, in the process, provide the business community with motivated, job-ready employees. All youths we serve are out of school and 17-24 years of age. Most have little or no previous job experience. Our core program includes pre-employment training, job placement, a GED program to help school dropouts earn high school diploma equivalencies, counseling support, and up to two years' follow-up assistance. In the 24 years we have been in business, we have helped more than 10,000 young people to enter and stay in the workforce, providing the knowledge, skills, and support they need to achieve economic self-sufficiency. Our accomplishments have been recognized by the White House with the President's Volunteer Action Award, The Chicago Community Trust's James Brown IV Award of Excellence for Outstanding Community Service, and many others.
