About Us

Pittsburgh Theological Seminary is a graduate professional institution of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A). Founded in 1794, the Seminary is located in Pittsburgh, Pa. and approximately 307 students are enrolled yearly in the degree programs. The Seminary has nurtured men and women in their faith in God, while preparing them for pastoral ministry and lay leadership in all phases of the Church's outreach. The Seminary is rooted in the Reformed history of faithfulness to Scripture and commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada, and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, PTS offers the Master of Divinity (M. Div.), the Master of Divinity (M. Div.) with an emphasis in Church Planting, the Master of Arts (M. A.), and the Master of Sacred Theology (S. T. M.) degrees to those interested in preparing for ministry and/or postgraduate studies. In addition, we offer three joint degree programs in cooperation with local universities: Master of Divinity/Master of Social Work with the University of Pittsburgh, the Master of Divinity/Juris Doctor with Duquesne University, and the Master of Divinity/Master of Science in Public Policy and Management with Carnegie Mellon University.
