About Us

UHeights’ mission to promote lifelong learning, creativity, culture, community activism and the preservation of our historic building.

Built in 1902 and closed by the Seattle School District in 1989, our historic landmark has been a vibrant community and nonprofit hub ever since.

Since 1990, we have served as a vibrant community center and nonprofit hub. Over 450 children attend school or programming here every day. 200 employees work here. We offer everything from childcare to after school programming to K-12 education. We are home to eleven local nonprofits and community groups that rely on reduced rent to stretch their charitable dollars even further. We also host nearly 1,500 arts, cultural, and educational classes every year. So we really have something for everyone. And when we say everyone, we strive to be inclusive of all walks of life regardless of income, sexual orientation, gender, ethnicity, ability or age.
