About Us

Vision problems in children aged 6-months to 6-years-old often go unnoticed, especially in families that lack access to basic healthcare. Vision impairment creates devastating consequences for lifelong productivity and quality of life. Children who struggle to see also struggle to read, learn, and perform basic personal tasks.

At KidSight MO, our goal is simple: to provide free vision screenings for every child under 6-years-old in Missouri to find every child with vision disorders. Since our founding in 1995, we’ve screened half a million children and we total nearly 70,000 screenings annually. Our KidSight Mobile Vision Screening program goes out to preschools, daycare centers, Head Start sites, and community events across the state. . We use a non-invasive, handheld photo screening device to scan a child’s eyes which produces an immediate “pass” or “refer” result. After detection, KidSight provides intervention and referrals through the KidSight Vision Care Network. We know that over 71% of the children we refer for potential vision problems go on to see an eye doctor.
