ANIMAL AID SOCIETY INCORPORATED

  • Mission

Animal Aid Society (AAS) is a 100% volunteer-run and operated no-kill dog shelter. We provide a safe, happy place for dogs to live and thrive until they find their forever homes. If you want a hands-on experience caring for and loving dogs, then Animal Aid is the place for you.

Animal Aid Society provides food, shelter, and love to abandoned/surrendered dogs. Our dogs come from the Hampton Roads community and from over-crowded municipal shelters. Every dog at Animal Aid receives top-notch veterinary care, quality food, playtime, love, and exercise, and has a large, clean, climate-controlled place to live! As a volunteer, you'll be part of a dedicated team that works together to feed the dogs, clean their runs, and meet the dogs' social, physical, and emotional needs (we're talking walks, playtime, and cuddles here!). Our goal is to find a loving forever home for each dog, and we work hard to find adopters and set them up for success. But, while the dogs wait, we want their stay at the shelter to be as safe, stress-free, and happy as possible. Volunteers like YOU make that possible! Our shelter operates in two shifts per day: AM shift is 9am to noon, and PM shift is 3pm to 6. You'd pick one shift per week (e.g., Saturday AM shift) -- that's it -- just one three hour commitment per week, and you'll make a world of difference in a homeless dog's life!
