Justice For My Sister Collective

About Us

Justice for My Sister Collective (JFMS) is a nonprofit organization with the mission to train women of color, nonbinary youth, and foster youth to make films with a gender equity and racial justice lens, as a means to heal from trauma and overcome financial barriers to entering the TV & film industry. We make sure every program and every organizational decision is based on the understanding of our mission and how we envision the world.

Our programs provide healing-centered, trauma-informed filmmaking instruction to first-time filmmakers and mid-career artists alike, ages 12 - 35. Our programs’ main goal is to increase visibility and job accessibility for underrepresented populations, particularly women of color, LGBTQAI+, foster youth, and survivors of gender-based violence. 90% of our program participants come from communities of color and nearly half report experiencing some sort of gender-based violence or aggression. Sixty percent (60%) of our students are under 21.
