    About Us

    Who We Are

The Children's Advocacy Center of Comal County, Inc. (CACCC) is a multidisciplinary team which includes the District Attorney, local law enforcement agencies, the state children's protective agency, and local non-profit organizations serving youth.

WHAT IS A CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER?

The CAC's main duty is to insulate children from the judicial process through coordinated investigation in a neutral place. Through forensic interviewing by a trained interviewer, a victim's account of abuse is recounted and videotaped for use by all governmental entities involved in the prosecution of the abuser. With one interview, the victim avoids further trauma which may be caused when making multiple accounts of the abuse.

Further, it is an important function of the CAC to assess and determine the need for services to be provided to the victim and the victim's family. Once determination is made, the CAC will provide the referral for services to appropriate area resources and provide additional services as needed.
