GIRLS AND LITERATURE

Girls and Literature is a 501(c)(3) global nonprofit dedicated to expanding educational access for girls around the world. Our mission is to empower girls to pursue learning, develop their leadership potential, and become agents of meaningful change in their communities and beyond.

Founded in the Washington, D.C., area, Girls and Literature (GAL) has grown into a global organization with a presence across four continents and a volunteer network spanning 30 countries. Through virtual reading events, book donations, educational resource distribution, and partnerships with local communities, GAL has donated over 1,000 books across three continents and worked with students in Uganda, Kenya, southern India, and Nicaragua, as well as Afghan refugees and other underserved communities.

As our organization continues to expand, we remain committed to increasing access to educational resources and creating opportunities for girls around the world to learn and grow.
