The Atlanta Air & Space Museum was born from a group of aviation professionals, enthusiasts, educators and community members who want children from 1 to 100 to dream of flying; not only in earth’s rarefied air...but to quote Buzz Lightyear "To Infinity and Beyond!"

Georgia has a rich history of aviation, manufacturing, transportation, logistics and a growing future in aerospace. Early hot air balloons in the Civil War, one of the first WWI aviation training schools, Lindbergh’s first solo, the first female African-American pilot, WWII Naval Air Stations, the Bell Bomber plant and the major socio-economic changes it brought to the South, the home of the one of the world’s largest airlines, one of the world’s largest logistical package carriers, corporate business jet production, traveling in space and the challenges of living in new environments - the story of Georgia’s role in history that changed the world, exploration of new frontiers and the human stories behind the history, are a rich opportunity to inspire young and old and discover the path forward into the future.

Our goal is for the museum to become part of the fabric of the community and a centerpiece for economic development in the Dekalb-Peachtree Airport perimeter. An event center to meet the community needs, an educational campus to foster interest in aerospace and technical careers, a tourist attraction for the county, an economic industry driver for the state and a center of activity for aviation enthusiasts.
