About Us

Established in 1983 in Delhi, the Centre for Social Research (CSR) is dedicated to restructuring gender relations toward a humane, equitable and gender-just Indian society. For nearly three decades, we've worked in four broad areas: direct interventions at the community level, knowledge and capacity building for all sectors of society, policy level interventions, and action-oriented research. We listen closely to the voices and shared experiences of the women and girls of India, and we reflect their needs and incorporate their suggestions into our programs. Our teams and community partners operate programs that aim to eliminate violence against women; eradicate sex selection; promote women’s participation in government and economy; enhance skills and increase education of women and girls; sensitize public and private agencies toward gender issues; and more.
