About Us

The mission of Dyslexia Tutoring Program is to work with low-income children and adults who are dyslexic or have a language-based learning disability.  If eligible, students are matched with tutors who have completed our 22 hour training class conducted by instructors versed  in a research based multi-sensory skills method, using the tenets of Orton-Gillingham, and other supplemental programs proven to be most effective in remediating reading, spelling, writing.  Tutors must submit to background screening (criminal check and review of references).  They must also agree to: periodic reviews by the Tutor Coordinator to help with quality of instruction; complete 60 hours of tutoring services, and the submission of a monthly tutoring report.

We ask a lot from our tutors, but all this training is free with the completion of 60 hours of tutoring. If you have the time and were withal to help us, let us help you give hope, and self-esteem to those in need, one word at a time.
