  • About Us

There is no reason that contemporary housing development in the Great Lakes Basin cannot thrive while at the same time preserving agricultural lands, restoring old prairies, and making working with nature an important amenity to those seeking a home in the country. Tryon Farm Institute oversees the preservation and restoration of the landscape at Tryon Farm, a 170-acre former dairy farm in the Indiana Dunes at Michigan City. With over 50 of the planned 150 homes situated in seven high-density settlements completed, Tryon Farm serves as a living demonstration for land use planners, environmentalists, and government officials. At the end of the development, TFI will own almost two-thirds of the land at the Farm.
