About Us

Kyoto Twist works with existing solar cooking groups who are experienced in their countries where there is plenty of sunshine and few energy resources for cooking. We partner by funding and consulting to create projects where the results can be documented and replicated in continuing projects. We would like to see families receive a solar cooker and training and support to use their cookers so they can redirect the money spent on non-sustainable fuel sources to buying nutritious foods, medicines, and their children's education. Women who can use a solar cooker are safer from the dangers of venturing far from home to collect firewood. Solar cookers address deforestation and soil erosion and all eight of the UN Millennium Development Goals. Where water is impure, solar pasteurization is taught and smoke-related lung and eye diseases are reduced due to cleaner indoor air. Solar cookers are a wonderful tool for so many who have so little. Kyoto Twist is a registered charity in Canada and all volunteer. Donations go directly to the projects and the people who will benefit. No part of donations received go to paid staff or travel. Thank you for your support!
